Abstract
  • Physical education is a critical part of a child's education. According to the National Association of State Boards of Education, the recommended amount of exercise per day is 60 minutes; however, only 24% of children with disabilities reach this standard (Inclusive school physical education and physical activity, 2020). Many schools do not have access to Adapted Physical Educators (APE) and are not supplied with the resources needed to create an inclusive PE classroom; however, occupational therapists can fill the support role of APEs in schools and have the knowledge and access to crucial information in making inclusive classrooms. Partnering with Special Olympics of DeKalb County, this inclusive physical education curriculum was completed. This project included the creation of an inclusive curriculum using research data and survey data gathered throughout the project, lesson plans, handouts, and other resources to provide current PE teachers with adaptive PE activities.
